Food Plots

Food plots can be defined as a planted area set aside to act as a food source for wildlife. They serve as a great way to provide a reliable food source for wildlife when their native food sources are limited.  If done properly food plots will, hopefully, lead to the development of a healthier wildlife population.
Relatively anyone can create their own food plots if space allows.  Unused land can be easily and affordably transformed into a food plot.  The project can be fun, educational and attract wildlife for your personal viewing.
Each year my family dedicates a portion of our land to food plots.  Although it is not an overwhelming portion, it is enough to provide for a variety of wildlife.  Each year differs as to what we plant, but this year we plant feed corn, sunflowers and legumes.  Growing a variety of vegetation will attract a diverse population of wildlife.

This field of sunflowers and feed corn was planted to serve
as a food plot, available to wild game, birds and insects.
